Account and authentication

Register, sign in, manage account settings, and delete an account.

Your genko.me account gives you a personal workspace and access to teams you join. Account settings and settings for each workspace are separate. For settings for each workspace, see Workspace settings.

Register and get started

After registering, you can start using the service in three steps.

  1. Confirm email: Enter the 6-character alphanumeric verification code sent to your email address. The code expires in 10 minutes.
  2. Choose your personal workspace ID: Enter the ID used on the dashboard and API, and select "Start with this ID". A personal workspace is created at this point.
  3. Choose a plan: Choose Free ("Start with this plan"), Plus, or Pro. For a paid plan, press "Continue with Plus" or "Continue with Pro".

If a Google/GitHub button is displayed, you can also register with that account. If you registered through a team invitation, you will return to the invitation screen after determining your personal workspace ID.

Personal workspace ID

The ID can contain lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. It must be at least 3 characters long and end with a lowercase letter or number. It appears in the dashboard URL (genko.me/w/your-id) and the delivery API URL (api.genko.me/v1/your-id/…), and you cannot change it later.

On the same screen, you can choose whether to receive newsletters and product updates. You can change this later in Notification settings.

Choose a plan

Select Plus or Pro to go to the payment screen. Each account gets one 7-day free trial of a paid plan, and the trial is not offered again once used. If you leave the payment screen, you can keep using genko.me on the Free plan. You can change your plan later under "Plans and usage" in workspace settings. For details, see Plans and limits.

This step does not appear if payments are not available or your personal workspace is already on a paid plan.

Cancel registration

Before you decide on your personal workspace ID, you can delete the account you are registering by selecting "Do not create account" → "Delete".

Accounts without a personal workspace ID are deleted automatically after 24 hours. You can register again using the same email address or Google/GitHub account. To delete your account after choosing an ID, use "Delete account" in account settings.

In addition to your password, you can sign in with a registered passkey ("Sign in with a passkey"). Passkeys use the authentication built into your browser and device. Before you switch to a new device, check which sign-in methods it supports.

If you have forgotten your password, reset it from the sign-in screen. If the email does not arrive, check that the address is correct, look in your spam folder, and check whether your mail provider blocks incoming mail.

Open account settings

Select the account icon on the right side of the header, then "Account settings". These settings apply to all workspaces. They are split into "General", "Account", "Security", "Integrations", "Notifications", "Support", and "Delete account". You can choose the language of the app and emails (Japanese or English) under "General".

Changes to General and Notifications are not saved until you select "Save changes". If you try to leave without saving, you are asked to confirm.

Two-factor authentication and passkey

Set these up under "Security" in account settings.

  • Two-factor authentication: Use a code generated by an authentication app. Store the backup code shown during setup in a safe place.
  • Passkey: Follow the prompts from your device or password manager. You can delete passkeys you no longer need.

Before you delete or change a sign-in method, make sure you can still sign in another way. Manage linked Google and GitHub accounts under "Integrations". If a link is your only way to sign in, set a password before you unlink it. "Integrations" also lets you manage the access you have allowed AI clients to genko.me (MCP).

View your inquiries

"Support" in account settings lists your past inquiries and their replies, including ones sent from this account's email address. Select one to open the thread and read the replies.

Change email address

Change it under "Security" in account settings.

  1. Verify your identity using the verification code sent to your current email address.
  2. Enter your new email address.
  3. Enter the verification code sent to your new address.
  4. Check that the change is complete. A confirmation is also sent to your old address.

If you cannot receive one of these emails, you cannot complete the change. Afterward, sign in with the new address.

Appearance and time zone

Choose "System", "Light", or "Dark" under "Theme" in the account icon menu. The change applies immediately. The theme is stored per device and browser, not per account. You can also change it under "General" in account settings.

Set your time zone under "General" in account settings and select "Save changes". It is used to display dates and times, to enter scheduled publishing times, and for API key validity dates. When you work with members in other countries, check the time zone as well as the date and time. See Scheduled publishing.

Delete account

Open "Delete account" in account settings. Deleting an account also deletes the personal workspace and the teams it owns. A team that has other members is deleted too when its owner deletes their account.

Before you proceed, check the data you need, shared members, connected sites, and any paid plan. Workspaces owned by someone else, where you are only a member, are not affected.

Notification settings are described in Notification settings and how your data is handled in the Privacy policy (Japanese).
